2 1/2" SPECIAL FINISH ARTISAN™ STEERHIDE ~ MEDIUM / LIGHT DRAW

My latest design, the "Old Timer™" This new super heavy handle is now standard equipment on this model and is based around my original Artisan™ design but with a few advantages. The thick, 3 ply handle makes a more rigid connection with the strop body giving a bit more feedback and control, and since the logo is now on the handle adds an inch and a half more clear stropping surface. The working surface of this strop is 2 1/2" x 17" with no logo in the way.

The front component is a heavy 8 to 9oz. premium Steerhide that has been specially finished with a superfine surface to give a nice medium draw. It is buttery smooth with a velvet-like draw and needs no breaking in. It is hand worked to give just the right suppleness and to help it resist cupping.

This 2 1/2" traditional model is joined at the top to a second component of either my Fine Weave Firm Cotton (Standard), or optional Genuine Linen (+$12.00). For those on a budget, or not feeling the need for a cloth component, I also offer this model as a single component, Steerhide only strop with just one handle (-$20.00). A cotton or genuine linen component can be added later if desired. (

The standard second component is a fine, but firm weave cotton that works well alone or pasted with diamond spray or chromium oxide. An optional upgrade is my Genuine Linen which has a naturally abrasive surface and is the traditional material used for cloth strops. The Genuine Linen is best used unpasted.

You can add my Steerhide Starter Strop (+$12.00) to give you a first quality strop to learn on and with premium leather and construction.
